Gaming Grid

We use these so often to help give our players a better experience and to help track where they are in relation to enemies they may be fighting.

This is the actual set we use, and it is fantastic as it stores conveniently, and has edgers on it so that when it is out it doesn’t just roll back up. It’s easy to use and has a bunch of options to emerse your players.

Keep in mind that when you do host a large RPG game having the appropriate gaming table helps, for us we use our kitchen table, with a lifted table that we built for our game mats. This allows players to write and have drinks and food without disrupting the game board.

3. Comfort and Atmosphere:

No matter when you play take into consideration the players comfort, if playing a long game make sure to plan breaks and meals so that players can move and shake out.

Avoid playing on hard surfaces like metal chairs with no cushions, after a while the players may become uncomfortable.

Try to have a play area that is warm in welcoming, we always clean before a game day. Try to use natural lighting like windows, though preferably windows that that shades that can be pulled in the event the sun begins to create a glare.

4. Snacks and Refreshments:

Snacks and refreshments are key to a good gaming experience. During games it can get tedious when you have a gnawing hunger.

We like to have snacks that can sustain us until we break for a meal. Usually, we will all plan a meal together and everyone takes part in preparing some part of it. One person will focus on grilling, while the other focuses on sides and I usually prep the dessert.
